Attorney Profile

Protecting Families When It Matters Most

"The law shouldn't be a weapon to tear families apart—it must be a shield to protect them."

My path to becoming a family law attorney wasn't born out of a desire to litigate; it was born out of a profound need to help people navigate the most emotionally devastating periods of their lives. Growing up in a hardworking, tight-knit community, I saw firsthand how legal disputes could fracture families and drain their life savings. I knew there had to be a more compassionate, strategic way to resolve conflict.

My Background

I was the first in my family to graduate from college, earning my degrees in Pre-Law and Philosophy from Michigan State University. It was there, leading debate teams, that I learned the power of finding common ground in the midst of intense disagreement. I took that mentality to American University's Washington College of Law, where I dedicated over 800 hours to pro-bono work, specifically focusing on family advocacy and representing underserved communities.

Before joining Hernandez Law Firm, I served as a judicial clerk. Behind closed doors, I drafted dozens of judicial opinions and watched how judges actually made decisions regarding custody, property division, and divorce. That courtroom intimacy gave me an invaluable perspective: I learned exactly how to build cases that judges want to rule in favor of, and how to negotiate settlements that keep my clients out of the courtroom entirely.

Why I Do This Work

Family law is uniquely intense. When clients come to me, they are often facing the potential loss of their children, their homes, or their financial security. I chose this field because I believe that in these moments of total chaos, people need an anchor. They don't just need a lawyer; they need a trusted strategist who can shoulder the emotional burden and provide clear, objective guidance.

Whether navigating a high-net-worth divorce, drafting a delicate prenuptial agreement, or fighting for primary custody, my philosophy is simple: de-escalate whenever possible, but be relentlessly prepared to fight if the other side refuses to be fair.

Beyond the Law

To me, advocacy goes beyond legal briefs. I am deeply invested in our local community. I spend my weekends volunteering with youth mentorship programs and coaching local little league teams. Living in Washington State, the outdoors is my sanctuary—you can often find me hiking the Cascades or fly-fishing. These moments of quiet recharge me so I can step back into the office ready to fight for my clients with renewed clarity.

My Promise to You

When your family's future hangs in the balance, the stakes couldn't be higher. My promise is that you will never walk through this process alone. I will be honest with you about your options, I will fiercely protect your assets and your children, and I will always strive to resolve your case with dignity and respect.

You aren't just a case file on my desk. You are a parent, a partner, and a person who deserves a fresh start. And I will do everything in my power to ensure you get it.
